Subscribing, simple:
First of all, always use the automated subscription mechanism, please do not send private emails to DRESD members. You can subscribe using email, just send an email to
*mailing list name*-subscribe@dresd.org, for example, for the earendil mailing list you have to write an email to: earendil-ml-subscribe@dresd.org
Remember that your message is being interpreted by a computer not by a person so please use a blank subject and empty content in your message to reduce the risk of your subscribe attempt being interpreted as spam.
Your reply will be a message asking you to confirm that you want to subscribe, then confirm your subscription just with a simple replay to the confirmation email. After that you have to wait for a moderator to approve your request and after that you'll receive an email to confirm that your request has been accepted and you've been added to the mailing list.
Unsubscribing, simple:
First of all, always use the automated unsubscription mechanism, please do not send private emails to DRESD members. You can subscribe using email, just send an email to
*mailing list name*-unsubscribe@dresd.org
Remember that your message is being interpreted by a computer not by a person so please use a blank subject and empty content in your message to reduce the risk of your unsubscribe attempt being interpreted as spam.
Your reply will be either a message asking you to confirm that you want to unsubscribe, or an error saying "That address is not subscribed" with a help message on how to use the mailing list commands. If you received the confirmation message, then confirm your unsubscription. If you got the help message, then your current mail address is not the same as the subscribed mail address.
What is a digest?
For a mailing list that is very high volume (20-30 notes a day), a digest version of that list can be very convenient. When you are on the digest version, you will get a single mail note once a day (or once every 30 messages--which ever comes first) that contains all of the traffic to that mailing list that day.
Digests are less useful on low volume lists (such as most of the announcement lists, which may have one note sent to them per month).
The easiest way to subscribe or unsubscribe from a digest version is to send am email to:
*mailing list name*-digest-subscribe@dresd.org, to subscribe
*mailing list name*-unsubscribe@dresd.org, to unsubscribe
How can I switch my subscription to a digest one?
You just have to do something like that:
a) Unsubscribe from the mailing list.
b) Subscribe to the mailing list, this time using the digest option.
Need more help?
Send an email to *mailing list name*-help@dresd.org. We are sorry, but this is only available in Italian.
